In the special presentation The Marriage in the Kunstkammer of the Kunsthistorisches Museum, visitors can experience pieces of jewelry by the Austrian jewelry artist Anna Heindl in dialogue with the work of the so-called Master of Heiligenkreuz. Anna Heindl (born 1950) was inspired by the diptych Marriage of St. Catherine (around 1400) when creating her latest series of works. The resulting series of sculptural jewelry objects was exhibited as part of the intervention in the Kunstkammer. The sculptor Manfred Wakolbinger has created a sculptural “stage” for Heindl's works of art through his exhibition design.
The exhibition is complemented by earlier works by the jewelry artist. The exciting interplay between contemporary jewelry design and the Gothic sacred painting is a first for the Kunsthistorisches Museum in this form.
